This week we start with Rockabilly and journey through some of the raw lo-tech garage sound, psychedelic psychobilly, and goth rock that made crude lo-fi and electronic grunge sound popularƒ. A sound that eventually united with early London dub to produce the raw grinding sounds of the electronic dub. an odd journey starting with Elvisƒ. 1. Elvis! Reverend Horton Heat "Cruisin' For A Bruisin" from LP - Liquor in the Front Label: Interscape (1994) possibly the most popular psychobilly band of all time. 7. Beasts Of Bourbon "Too Much Too Late" LP - Little Animals (2007) Label: Albert Productions from Australias pub rock scene, started in 1983. 8. Mummies "The Thing From Venus" 2002 LP: Never Been Caught Label: Telstar kings of budget and garage rock. 9. nick cave & the bad seeds "Train long-suffering" from LP: The Firstborn Is Dead 1985 Lable: Mute 10. Cramps "lets get fucked up" LP: Flame Job 1994 Label: Medicine Label/Warner Bros. The entire psychobilly scene would be unthinkable without the Cramps. 11. Augustus Pablo & Dub Syndicate - "Red Sea" 1984 LP North Of River Thames Label: On-U Sound Doctor Pablo is Pete Stroud, a British melodica player who fell in love with the "Far East" sound of pioneering melodica virtuoso Augustus Pablo and hooked up with label head Adrian Sherwood and his house band, the Dub Syndicate, to record an album of languid reggae instrumentals in a style closely based on that of his namesake. (Even the album title is a tribute: It's a parody on the title of Augustus Pablo's classic album East of the River Nile.) 16.
